Sulphurgenic Bow Ties

When I was in London a couple of months ago I got the chance to meet Catrise and Mel; two sweet, young and talented girls who founded Sulphurgenic: a luxury bow tie label. I was really impressed when they talked to me about their project, I mean we all now bow ties or have worn them, but they were giving them an interesting twist, they were actually reinventing a traditional piece. I asked them to show me their work, so I can do a post about them; so here are some of the pictures I took... the bow ties are lovely, I can totally picture myself wearing them, and I actually bought a couple for two of my dearest friends here in Mexico.

“We created Sulphurgenic after noticing the repetition of the traditional bow ties. We want to continuously push the boundaries and make art out of neckwear.”

Mel and Catrise have transformed the classic bow tie into a statement piece. Every bow tie is entirely handmade and it takes them two days complete them, we are talking serious here! Each bow tie has an special name linked to the character it is trying to portray.

Sulphurgenic has a blog (that's actually really cool) and an online store, the good news is that they ship worldwide!

I’m really happy when young people go out of the box and do fashion foward projects, so congrats Mel and Catrise, it was a pleasure meeting you guys.

With love,

Gina

Gina
