Shoe Of The Week: Yayoi Kusama for Louis Vuitton

Shoe Of The Week: Yayoi Kusama for Louis Vuitton

Yayoi Kusama is a talented and -very- famous japanese sculptress, painter and novelist that uses polka dots in different colors and sizes to create art.  Louis Vuitton has launched a special edition collection with the collaboration of Kusama and Marc Jacobs -creative director of LV- were shoes, clothing, bags and iconic accessories of the brand are the perfect canvas for her art work.  Under the statement “cover yourself in dots” Vuitton gives their consumers 64 unique collection pieces that honor art, fashion and their indisputable bond.  The collection in general is clever, powerful and unique; very colorful and in a personal way I love the dimensions it achieves by combining the different pieces, the vitality and energy that they communicate.  In my case, I’ve decided to buy this pair of shoes: they are smaller than the size I usually wear... but they were the only ones left in Mexico (only few models are available for each country) so it was time to take drasti...

Shoe of the Week: Alexander Wang Metallic Pumps

Shoe of the Week: Alexander Wang Metallic Pumps

I bought this pair of unusual Alexander Wang metallic pumps just last September in New York City, at the first -and only- flagship store the designer has in SoHo. They were actually the only pair remaining and -fortunately for me- they were my size (lucky me!). I sadly have to admit that, although they have a ¨loafer look”, they are not that comfortable, but oh well, who needs comfy shoes, right? On the other hand, I do enjoy their sheer shine, their high heel and the unexpected tassels that give them an added meaning.  I know sometimes it can be kind of tricky combining metallics, but I think this pair might work as a basic color allowing it to be wearable in spring and winter with different outfit options and taking aside the season trends.   Alexander Wang is a young and talented designer who launched his very first women’s collection in 2007. Wang is also an award winning designer in who the fashion industry has definitely set eyes on. XX, Gina Translation\ Traducción En S...

Shoe of the Week: United Nude Ankle Boots

Shoe of the Week: United Nude Ankle Boots

Well, these shoes aren´t just a crazy pair of United Nude ankle boots with a really amazing and original heel; this pair is also a present from my mom. She bought them for me almost a year ago while we were on a mother-daughter trip; although they are quite incredible in shape and design they have an “added” special meaning because they remind me of those incredible days we spent together. United Nude is a worldwide brand sold in over 40 countries with flagship stores in Amsterdam, London, New York and Shanghai. The brand founders are Rem D Koolhaas- an amazing Dutch architect- and Galahad Clark – a seventh generation English shoe maker. They launched their first collection in 2003 with “Möbius” which was the first shoe prototype Rem made as a gift to an ex girlfriend, in order to convince her to get back together (by the way… they didn’t).   Up until now you can also buy United Nude furniture, bags, (they are amazing!) hats and wallets.    Most of United Nude´s designs ...

Shoe of the Week: Christian Louboutin Pumps

Shoe of the Week: Christian Louboutin Pumps

As you already know I’m a huge Louboutin fan… I know, I know, me and millions more... including most of the A- listers in Hollywood and celebrities around the world. His designs are to die for and he is of course a master mind in tempting everyone with the one and only red sole which, by the way, is highly addictive … once you buy your first pair it’s hard to stop. I found these beauties on sale a few weeks ago. I couldn’t resist because they caught my eye standing all alone in the shelf… the golden texture plus the little details, that I think resemble a honey comb, are mind blowing. I like the little strap detail on the ankle; it definitely makes your legs look better. I have tiny ankles, so when I wear this type of shoe it really makes my legs look proportioned. The heel is high but slightly “more” discrete than the average height Christian puts on his shoes. They are quite comfortable, plus it’s easy to coordinate them with daily outfits and they also look stunning with night dre...

Shoe of the Week: Camilla Skovgaard Ankle Boots

Shoe of the Week: Camilla Skovgaard Ankle Boots

For the shoe of the week post I have this Camilla Skovgaard pair of booties. I think their best part is the wooden heel, so Camilla so architectural (and of course the clean lines and the amazing nude color) . Camilla’s shoes are always (she lunched her first collection in 2007) structured with great lines and her designs outstand for being “out of the box”. From this Danish designer I only own this pair, but I’m definitely looking to buy some more . T hey are unpredictable, dangerous and risky , dramatic and eye catching . I think I need some razor blade soles in my life.
