I had the chance to visit Rolando’s Santana Showroom during my stay in New York City (lucky me, huh!). To be honest, I was eager to give a close look to his collection because I attended his show (I also attend it on September for his SS13 collection) and I left with a great feeling... his FW13 collection was very down to earth, wearable and coherent. Rolando, is a detail oriented designer, you just have to hold one of his pieces to notice the clear obsession he has for them... he uses high quality materials with impeccable tailoring. I will define his FW13 collection as timeless, feminine and elegant.... iridescence jackets, emerald and purple fur coats and vests, paired with cheerful prints and vibrant colors such as electric blue and tangerine; I love the mixture of colors we will see next fall! Google Fashion + Mexico was the first 100% online fashion week; 32 designers showed their collections during four -intense- days. A great display of technology and online resources were set on a studio so the online viewers could see and take a close looks to the fashion proposals of each and every one of the designers. The runways could only be seen online, but they were also recorded and are still available online if you want to check them out . I was invited by Maybelline to cover the backstage: and I can tell you that the makeup for each catwalk was really amazing, you could see the hard work behind each concept. Jonathan Lule -makeup artist- was in charge of developing each look in collaboration with the designers. The result is amazing, you can see it in the pictures and in the catwalk. PAAR it’s a Mexican brand of -hand made- amazing jewelry. I discovered these lovely accessories “ accidentally " a couple of months ago while browsing online. I fell in love with a lot of their creations, so I wrote to Paulina and Ari to know more about them and their brand, I was really interested in interviewing them for the blog. They nicely invited me to their workshop to take some pictures of their pieces and to watch their creative and productive process. For these designers, everything started a couple of years ago (exactly in 2003) when they needed money to go on vacation, so they decided to create some pieces and sell them to obtain funds for their trip; they achieved their goal and when they came back they successfully continued selling their creations.
