Carolina Herrera’s runway was a show I was very excited to attend. I knew that the collection would be beautiful, but also that many artists, fashion editors and celebrities would attend the show. For the second time during fashion week, I was able to spot Anna Wintour at a fashion show. Renée Zellweger also attended and was seated at the front row next to Carolina’s daughter -Carolina- .The creative director of US Vogue, Grace Coddington was seated next to Anna. The famous photographer Patrick Demarchelier and senator Kristen Gillibrand were also among the distinguished guests. It’s amazing the feeling of being at these ¨over the top¨ shows; lots of things are going one while the show is happening... it’s hard not to miss something. I was looking at the models in the catwalk, but at the same time I was also looking at the front rowers; I was observing their movements and even tried to do some lip reading to catch one or two of their comments. I can tell you that the moment a show starts, Anna Wintour puts on her giant sunglasses. I have several theories of why she does this... one, is that she doesn’t like her facial expressions to be read -whether she liked the collection or not or who she is watching- like in a poker player kind of way. The other theory that I have -which was actually told to me by a fashion editor- is that since her father became blind and she is kind of scared to become blind too, so she wears her sunglasses in order to protect her eyes from the strong light of the runway. What's your opinion?
Regarding Carolina Herrera’s designs for this winter season, I did enjoy some of the pieces, especially a really nice fur coat and the long evening gowns. I think the use of purple and the mixture of navy and black will definitely state a trend for next season regarding color usage.
Long gloves, black ankle boots, thin colored belts, lots of layers, texture mixing, pencil skirts and the spatial purple print were among my favorite details.
The hair and makeup was very natural, I enjoyed it. It consisted of glowy cheeks, shimmery eyes and natural lips with a touch of pink. Lots of volume in the hair but with a subtle headband and a nice low pony tail; it’s a nice hair do for a cocktail or an evening event.
El desfile de Carolina Herrera era un evento al que moría de ganas por asistir, me emocionaba mucho el hecho de admirar la colección pero también sabia que mucha gente importante de la industria de la moda asistiría, por supuesto artistas y celebridades. Por segunda vez en esta semana pude ver a Anna Wintour en un show. Renée Zellweger también fue invitada y de hecho se sentó junto a Carolina, la hija mayor de la diseñadora. La directora creativa de Vogue Estados Unidos, Grace Coddington estaba sentada en primera fila junto a Anna. Patrick Demarchelier -distinguido fotógrafo- y el senador Kristen Gillibrand también asistieron a este fabuloso evento. Les puedo decir que la sensación de asistir a este tipo de desfiles es maravillosa; muchas cosas pasan al mismo tiempo, por lo que es difícil no perder algún detalle. Por mi parte, yo veía a las modelos caminar por la pasarela y admiraba la ropa, pero al mismo tiempo no perdía de mi vista a todos los que estaban sentados en el público, sobre todo a los de la primera fila para ver sus movimientos; de hecho, traté de leer algunos labios para cachar uno que otro comentario. Otro detalle interesante es que Anna Wintour, en el momento que empieza la pasarela se pone sus gigantescos lentes obscuros. Yo tengo varias teorías de por qué hace esto... la primera es porque no le gusta que lean sus expresiones faciales durante el show, como si fuera un jugador de póquer; es cuidadosa de no ser expresiva para no dar idea sobre su sentir. Otra teoría (que de hecho me contó una de las Editoras de Moda) es que lo hace porque su padre se quedó ciego y ella tiene mucho miedo de que le suceda lo mismo, por ello protege sus ojos de la fuerte luz de la pasarela con sus gafas. ¿Ustedes qué opinan? yo creo que ambas tienen algo de cierto.
Hablando de lleno sobre la colección presentada por Carolina Herrera, me pareció linda y de hecho me gustaron algunas de las piezas. Especialmente los abrigos de piel y los vestidos de noche. El color morado y la mezcla de azul marino y negro creo que serán tendencia en cuanto al uso y mezcla de color para la siguiente temporada.
Guantes largos, botines negros, cinturones delgados, faldas tipo lápiz, la mezcla de texturas y el estampado morado estilo espacial fue lo que más me gustó.
El maquillaje y el peinado fue muy natural, yo por mi parte voy a intentar usarlo; mejillas naturales con destellos dorados, ojos con sombras sutiles y labios en tonos rosa pálido. Me encantó el peinado con tanto volumen y la diadema delgada acentuando la frente; creo que es muy adecuado para usarse en un evento por la noche o un coctel.
